The government recognizes the importance of local historic literature to the national development and, therefore, established the Taiwan Provincial Common History Historica on June 1, 1948, to compile the common history of Taiwan Province. The Taiwan Provincial Common History Historica was changed to the Taiwan Provincial Literature Committee in July 1949, which comprises of several departments ¡V the committee members and editors studying the literatures, the editing department, the collection department and the arrangement department that gather, summarize, store, publish and modify literature-related publications.
¡@¡@After WWII, the government established the Taiwan Provincial Common History Historica on June 1, 1948, to compile Taiwan history. The Historica was changed to the Taiwan Provincial Literature Committee in July of the following year. The Committee was affiliated to the Taiwan Provincial government. The mission was changed, too, from compiling history to collecting, summarizing and editing Taiwan literary works. The Committee was affiliated to the Civil Affairs Department in 1958, to the Cultural Affairs Department in July 1997; and to the Taiwan Provincial government in July 1999 after the latter adjusted its structure and reoriented its services. On January 1, 2002, the Committee was affiliated to the Academia Historica and its name was changed to Taiwan Historica. The Historica is the only 3-tier institute under the Presidential Office.
